Services are provided in developmentally appropriate environments that promote the whole development of the child. This high-quality program is designed to support and nurture healthy attachments between the child and his/ her family. The Early Head Start program serves low-income pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers from birth to age 3. This hands-on curriculum ensures each child is ready for school by the time the transition to kindergarten takes place. The environment (indoor and outdoor), choice and implementation of activities, and child guidance strategies are designed to maximize opportunities for each child to develop social and cultural competence. The research-based curriculum, informs us of how children develop and learn, promotes positive learning environments, incorporates project-based learning, partners with families and clarifies the teacher’s role as the facilitator and partner in the child’s learning. CSB ensures that staff is able to communicate with children and parents in their first language.
